The Battle Pass pays for itself
The Battle Pass is the best value in Fortnite. If you play regularly through the season and level up, it gives back more V-Bucks than it costs, so after buying it once you can keep buying the next one with the V-Bucks it returns. Complete weekly quests and play events to level faster.
Fortnite Crew
The monthly Fortnite Crew subscription includes the current Battle Pass, a monthly V-Bucks allowance and an exclusive skin bundle. If you were going to buy V-Bucks every month anyway, it's usually cheaper than buying the same amount separately.
Save the World
Players who own the paid Save the World mode from before Epic changed its rewards can still earn V-Bucks from its daily quests and missions. Newer Save the World owners receive X-Ray tickets instead, which only work inside that mode, so check which you get before buying it for V-Bucks.
