What Is Escrow in Game Trading and How Does It Protect You?

Escrow means a neutral party holds the money until both sides have done their part. In game trading it solves the oldest problem of all: who goes first?

The problem escrow solves

Without a middleman, either the buyer pays first and hopes the seller delivers, or the seller delivers first and hopes the buyer pays. Scammers exploit both sides. Escrow removes the guesswork: the buyer pays the marketplace, the seller delivers knowing the money is already there, and the money moves only when the delivery is confirmed.

How an escrow order works on Mr. Gold

Every order goes through the same steps:

  • You pay for the order; the payment is held by Mr. Gold, not sent to the seller.
  • An order chat opens and the seller delivers using the method in the listing.
  • The seller marks the order as delivered and you check what you received.
  • You confirm the order — or it is confirmed automatically after a set time if you don't respond and haven't opened a dispute.
  • The seller's earnings are released, after a warranty hold for accounts.

What happens if something goes wrong

If the order is not delivered, is late or is not as described, you open a dispute from the order page instead of confirming. Support reviews the order chat and any evidence you upload and decides: a refund to the buyer, or a release to the seller if the order was delivered correctly. Because the money never left escrow, a refund is immediate.

Why it protects sellers too

Sellers know the buyer has really paid before they hand anything over, and chargeback-style scams are handled by the platform instead of the seller. A clear order chat is also the seller's evidence if a buyer claims something was never delivered.
