Pick a core attribute
Gear has one of three core attributes:
- Weapon damage for builds that focus on shooting.
- Armor for tanky builds that survive in close fights.
- Skill tier for builds that rely on drones, turrets and other skills.
- Most builds focus on one, sometimes mixing two.
Brand sets vs gear sets
Brand sets give small bonuses for wearing several items from the same brand, and you can mix brands freely. Gear sets give powerful set bonuses when you wear four pieces, plus a backpack and chest that boost the set. Gear sets define a build; brands fill gaps.
Exotics and talents
You can wear one exotic armour piece and one exotic weapon. They have unique talents that can be the centre of a build. Talents on other gear add conditional bonuses — choose ones that match how you play.
Specializations
Specializations give a signature weapon and bonuses. Choose one that supports your build, such as extra damage or better skills.
Farm the right gear
Targeted loot lets you farm specific gear types in certain areas and activities. Use the Recalibration Library to save stats and talents you like, and optimise gear at the workbench.
