Honor of Kings Beginner Guide: Roles, Heroes and Ranked Tips

Honor of Kings is one of the most played mobile MOBAs in the world. Matches are fast, but winning still comes down to playing your role, taking objectives and working with your team.

The five roles

Teams usually include:

  • Clash Lane: durable fighters who hold a side lane.
  • Mid Lane: mages who deal burst damage and rotate.
  • Farm Lane: marksmen who scale into the late game.
  • Jungling: farms camps, takes objectives and ganks.
  • Roaming: tanks and supports who protect and set up fights.

Pick a few heroes

Learn two or three heroes in one role and one backup role. Knowing combos, power spikes and counters wins more games than trying every hero.

Objectives

Tyrant and Overlord and similar objectives give big advantages. Group up with your team before they spawn, and take towers after won fights instead of chasing kills.

Items and arcana

Recommended builds are a good starting point, but adapt to the enemy team with defensive or anti-heal items when needed. Set up arcana that suit your role.

Climbing ranked

Watch the minimap, communicate with quick chat and avoid tilting after losses. Playing with a regular squad helps a lot.
