Genshin Impact has a lot of systems, and new players often spread their resources too thin. The fastest way to progress is to focus: build one strong team, follow the story to unlock features, and spend Original Resin where it matters.

Follow the story and raise Adventure Rank
Archon Quests unlock most of the game's features and regions. Adventure Rank (AR) goes up from quests, exploration and daily commissions, and raising it increases the World Level — which makes enemies stronger but rewards better. Don't rush World Level increases before your team can handle them.
Unlock waypoints and Statues of the Seven
Teleport waypoints save huge amounts of travel time, and offering Oculi to the Statues of the Seven raises your stamina and gives rewards. Pick up chests and Oculi as you explore — exploration is also one of the best free sources of Primogems.
Spend resin wisely
Original Resin regenerates over time and is needed to claim rewards from Ley Lines, bosses and domains. Early on, use it on character ascension materials and talent books for your main team. Artifact domains are a long-term investment — farm them once your characters are ascended and leveled.
Build one team around reactions
A balanced team covers damage, support and survival:
- A main damage dealer who deals most of the damage.
- A sub-damage dealer whose skills apply an element off-field.
- A support who buffs the team, such as Bennett or Sucrose.
- A healer or shielder to keep everyone alive.

Save Primogems for limited character banners featuring characters you really want rather than spending them on the standard banner. The pity system guarantees a 5-star after a certain number of wishes, and the limited banner's 'guarantee' carries over, so planning ahead makes your wishes go much further.
