What makes a good rune farm

The best farming spots have groups of enemies that die quickly near a Site of Grace, so you can rest, respawn them and repeat. Area attacks or ranged spells that hit the whole group make farms much faster. Later areas give more runes per enemy.

Boost your rune gains

Several items increase the runes you earn:

• Golden Scarab talisman raises runes from defeated enemies.
• Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot temporarily boosts runes gained.
• Rune consumables can be used for quick levels, or saved for later.
• Use these boosts together during a farming session for the biggest effect.

Spend your levels well

Vigor (health) is the most important stat early — more health means fewer one-shots from bosses. Then raise the stats your weapon scales with and enough Endurance to wear your armour. Don't spread levels across every stat.

Upgrade your weapon

Weapon upgrades often add more damage than character levels. Look for Smithing Stones while exploring and buy Smithing Stone Bell Bearings when you find them. Ashes of War let you change a weapon's skill and scaling.

Don't lose your runes

Runes drop when you die. Spend them before tough fights, use Sacrificial Twigs if you carry a lot, and recover dropped runes carefully — don't rush back into the same danger.
