Destiny 2 Beginner Guide: Classes, Subclasses and Power
Destiny 2 is Bungie's looter-shooter, and after years of expansions it can be confusing to jump into. You don't need to understand everything at once — start with your class, your subclass and a few good weapons.

Choose a class
Each class has its own style:
- Titans are durable front-liners with barricades and strong melee.
- Hunters are agile, with dodges and precision-focused abilities.
- Warlocks are space wizards with healing rifts and powerful grenades.
Subclasses and builds
Subclasses use Light elements (Solar, Arc and Void) or Darkness elements (Stasis and Strand). Each has aspects and fragments that change how your abilities work. Pick one subclass, follow a simple build and learn how its abilities feed each other before experimenting.
Weapons and exotics
You can equip one exotic weapon and one exotic armour piece at a time. Exotic armour often defines a build, so choose one that boosts your favourite abilities. For weapons, look for good perks rather than just high numbers.
Raising your Power
Power level decides how strong you are in harder activities. Weekly challenges and pinnacle rewards are usually the fastest way to raise it, so complete them every week. Infuse higher-power gear into items you like to keep using them.
Core activities
Strikes and other playlists are good for learning, the Crucible is PvP, and dungeons and raids are the toughest team content with the best loot. Find a clan or use the in-game fireteam finder for raids.
